I’ve been planning on starting a series of posts like this for ages, wanting to be able to talk about my other interests yet not interfere with my bookish blog too much. So, I settled on creating a post like this at the end of each month! That way, I can ramble as much as I like and not bore anyone with unrelated posts too often.
Movies
Avengers: Infinity War
This has been my most anticipated movie release since its first announcement. I’ve seen it twice since its release in the cinema and I still can’t get over how incredible it is. I was a little apprehensive at first, not sure how they’d manage to involve so many iconic characters in such a little time, but the writers are amazing and did it perfectly. I just hope the next will feature Ant-Man and Hawkeye too!
The Danish Girl
Eddie Redmayne is one of my all-time favourite actors and my friends were talking about how great this film is a little while back. When I told them I hadn’t seen it, they told me to immediately, so I did… and it broke my heart. It’s such an incredible story; it made me laugh, smile, melt and sob my heart out.
Deadpool 2
This one is my most recent watch. I loved the first film, it being one I can watch repeatedly and never get bored. I still enjoyed this one, it being impossible not to love something that features a character like Deadpool, but there was something about it that didn’t wow me as much as the last. Regardless, every Marvel movie immediately becomes a favourite of mine.
TV
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
I’ve only recently started this series, only just making it halfway through series two, but so far I’m in love. All the characters are brilliant, and it’s great to be able to invest yourself in a lighthearted television show. I was heartbroken when I heard the news it was cancelled, but thankfully there’s going to be another series! Hopefully, I’ll have caught up by then.
Nailed It!
Another lighthearted show. This series only has one on Netflix, but I really hope it gets another. It’s a fun baking show that features people known for being unable to bake. The presenter is hilarious, and the contestants are always enthusiastic about their talents before creating awful bakes. It’s the perfect evening watch on a difficult day.
Games
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery
I was so excited for this app when the news broke out about it, and although, I’m a little disappointed by the outcome I’m still pretty obsessed with it. I was hoping for a simple game where I could take classes at Hogwarts, but this has a story about the protagonists missing brother and their rebellious life at Hogwarts. It’s not too different, but I’d rather have more freedom and a more pleasant Hogwarts experience. Still, I’m on Year Three right now and my character looks very cute!
Disney Tsum Tsum
I downloaded this app years ago, but when I got a new phone I decided against re-downloading it until now. I love Tsum Tsums, having quite a big collection, and being able to play a cute matching app really allows me to relax and think things through in my head. Even the logo is adorable!
Music
Don Broco – Priorities
I like to listen to music when I’m walking, not being able to concentrate on audio-books as much this month, and I think I’ve listened to this album a lot more than anything else. It’s such a shame that they didn’t play many songs from this album on the latest tour; it’s probably my favourite album they’ve done.
Enter Shikari – Live at Alexandra Palace
I saw these live late last year and they were incredible. This album is probably my favourite to listen to by them, being one of the best live bands I’ve seen and luckily a lot of my favourite songs by them are on this album. I just wish I managed to see the show in person!
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them – James Newton Howard
I’m unable to listen to anything but soundtracks when writing, so while working on university assignments I’ve been listening to my soundtrack playlist a lot more than anything else. The music from Fantastic Beasts is so beautiful and I found it really helpful when working on my lighter creative pieces.
Other
Victorian Locket Necklace by Amaradorn
I bought this locket from Etsy earlier this month and put a few photos of my Nan and Granddad inside. It’s a beautiful design, and a bit on the larger size so it fits bigger photographs in than regular sized lockets. It looks great on, and feels light enough to wear with any outfit. It’s definitely a psychological thing, but I feel a lot happier wearing it and knowing my grandparents are near.
Black and White Denim Shorts by Topshop
I can’t find them online and this is definitely not the name of them. It’s been surprisingly warm recently and I’ve found the confidence to finally wear more summer-appropriate clothing. They’re a thin denim, with light white and grey checks across them. They’re so comfortable, high-waisted, and look nice with a lot of the t-shirts I wear normally to!
