Top Five Tuesday | Authors I’m hoping to meet at YALC 2018

So, this week is the one we’ve been counting down for since last year; YALC (Young Adult Literature Convention) and LFCC (London Film & Comic Con) Weekend! This year is going to be my first time attending both, even though I’ve been monitoring it for years, but I’ve finally been able to find the time and cash to attend. So, considering it’s so close, I thought I’d dedicate this week’s Top Five Tuesday to the authors I’m most anticipating meeting. I’ve decided to limit myself to two books to get signed per author, as I don’t want to be that person and I struggle with a lot with my back after an injury a few years ago so I don’t want to be carrying too many books into the venue before the convention even starts!

Sally Green (Friday)

Okay, it’s no secret to this blog that Sally Green is one of my favourite authors of all time. I adore every single book she’s ever released and have followed her work since the debut of Half Bad. So, naturally, I’m jumping at the chance to meet her and tell her just how much I appreciate and adore her work. I’ll try and keep my cool though, honest.

Books I’m taking to get signed: Half Bad and The Smoke Thieves

Simon James Green (Saturday)

Simon James Green is another author who I’m just in awe of. Both of his works are some I’ve picked up since the moment they were released, and have managed to read in one sitting each. They’re the most lighthearted, positive books I’ve found regarding LGBT romances, and The Inbetweeners-like protagonist just makes it a brilliant read. I can’t recommend his books enough to people.

Books I’m taking to get signed: Noah Can’t Even and Noah Could Never

Dhonielle Clayton (Saturday)

I’ve only recently been introduced to Dhonielle Clayton’s work, having only read her debut a few weeks ago. However, I immediately fell in love with it. The entire concept and characters invested me fully and I can’t wait to ask her all about the future of the world and those inhabiting it.

Books I’m taking to get signed: The Belles

Christina Henry (Sunday)

Again, it’s only been recently that I’ve found Christina Henry’s brilliant retellings, but I’ve managed to read three of out four of her books in less than a month. Her writing style and ideas become addictive, and I’m excited to finally meet the woman with this incredible imagination. Her retellings are some of the best I’ve read, and her talents with a plot twist are some I desperately wish to possess myself.

Books I’m taking to get signed: The Mermaid and Lost Boy

Chloe Coles (Friday)

I won a copy of Chloe Coles’ debut novel a few months back with ReadersFirst, where I was introduced to this wonderful book-loving character that you can’t help but adore. I’ve had a few interactions with the author online, via mostly Instagram, and they seem like such a sweet, bubbly person. I can’t wait to say ‘hi’ and talk about Paige Turner’s future.

Books I’m taking to get Signed: Bookshop Girl

Bonus!

Other authors I’d like to meet this weekend:

  • Alice Oseman (Friday)
  • Giovanna & Tom Fletcher (Saturday)
  • Akemi Dawn Bowman (Sunday)
