Character of the Month (August ’20) | Audrey Rose Wadsworth

Note: This post contains spoilers from the Stalking Jack the Ripper Series.

This month’s character was quite easy to choose, having been tempted to reread the series all month, except my TBR pile was looming over me to complete. This character is one that has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to finally have an excuse to discuss them.

Audrey Rose Wadsworth | Stalking Jack the Ripper Series

d9f7f9c51bcdcfbde1f2d08df7022fdaThe Stalking Jack the Ripper series has been one of my all-time favourite series since the release of the first instalment, the characters residing within a piece of my heart shortly after. It’s no secret to this blog that Audrey Rose and co. are some of my favourite characters ever written, and it was about time I finally delved into exactly why I adore them so much. It was only fair that Wadsworth would be the first.

Audrey Rose Wadsworth is an impeccable character, glowing through the pages of her series and holding the reigns from start to finish. She’s fearless, determined and extremely ambitious, especially considering she’s living in 1800’s Britain. She doesn’t care for classes or gender boundaries or anything of that matter, caring only to follow her heart and seek answers for the questions gathering around her. She makes an absolutely brilliant protagonist, giving the readers exactly what they want and need; the answers to the questions the story provides and someone admirable to be inspired by. Everyone deserves to have a little Audrey Rose within them, spurring them on to achieve what they set out to do with no remorse.
Aside from her charming and broad personality, Audrey Rose also has a brilliant relationship with her work and life partner, Thomas Cresswell. The pair bounce off one another, sharing charming anecdotes and comebacks to one another’s jests and I absolutely adored reading about them. I couldn’t get enough of their charming ways, and I loved every moment I spent in their world. There’s very little novels out there that can provide what this series does, and provide it to this level.
