Character of the Month (January ’21) | Yuki Sohma

This month, I’ve been delving back into my all-time favourite manga series, Fruits Basket, and I’ve hit the peak part of the plot where a lot of the development takes place, and I can’t help but feel drawn to one character in particular.

So, it’s been a while since I’ve written a Character of the Month post, having lost inspiration for these kinds of posts until recently. However, since it’s October and Halloween is upon us, I felt it was about time I discussed one of my favourite villains of all time.

This month’s character was quite easy to choose, having been tempted to reread the series all month, except my TBR pile was looming over me to complete. This character is one that has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to finally have an excuse to discuss them.

Finally, I’ve encountered a month where the associated character was easy to choose. Although, there was a few torn characters, I knew the series I’d choose immediately; one of my teenage years favourites.

Character of the Month (June ’20) | Kagura Sohma

This month has been quite a difficult one to choose a character for. Considering the current circumstances, it’s been pretty slow and uneventful. However, on social media, there has been a trend where you post a photo of yourself alongside an animated character likewise to you. I chose this character.

Character of the Month (May ’20) | Noctis Lucis Caelum

This month, I’ve had quite a lot of trouble with my procrastination for this post, being quite indecisive of who would be the focus character for May. However, I felt it was about time we returned to the video game world, becoming reintroduced to one of my favourite games and loving every second back in its world. So, this month is dedicated to the said game’s protagonist!

Character of the Month (April ’20) | Isabelle Lightwood

This post is yet again a little later than predicted, namely due to motivation and procrastination than anything else. I knew I wanted to finally include another female Character of the Month, but deciding on one has been a bit of a struggle. However, this month I completed The Mortal Instruments series and I was blown away by the amount of favourable characters. One in particular stood out to me.

I apologise for how late this post is this month, but I really struggled to find the right character. At first, I was trying to restrict myself via gender, deciding it was time for another female character of the month, yet I couldn’t find one that resonated with me enough, so I eventually allowed my mind to flow freely again. And that’s when I had it. Besides, with the world the way it is right now, we all need a little light in our lives.

I’m not a frequent romance reader, so when February comes around I find it very difficult to theme the content of this blog around Valentines. However, after searching through the past year I managed to finally find a suitable character. Last years Valentines character was none other than Tohru Honda, the protagonist of the Fruits Basket series, so it felt only natural for her partner to feature this year. Besides, it’s impossible not to fall in love with him too.

When it comes around to these monthly posts, I usually try to generate a character that’s relevant to how my month has gone or upcoming books. However, this month has been a particularly slow one. I have no huge reason for dedicating January 2020 to this character, other than the fact I have been re-watching the series. Hang on, while writing this post I suddenly thought of a reason. Okay, here we go… Since the return of one of my favourite bands, the singer of which being the creator of The Umbrella Academy, I thought I’d dedicate this month to one of my favourite characters. Nailed it!
An important note: I’m quite behind with the graphic novels, so this post will be only discussing Netflix’s adaptation of the character. Sorry, super fans!
