Top Five Tuesday | YA Tropes I Love

So, this month I’ve delved into a few titles that I wouldn’t usually explore, such as Women’s Literature and Chick Lit, which has opened a few doors to me about tropes that are popular within those genres. As someone who has been in love with the Young Adult genre from a young age, I’ve discovered a lot about what’s popular and not within the genre and so I thought I’d compose a post about some of my favourite tropes within YA.

Character of the Month (January ‘19) | Jest

I apologise for how late this post is, my scheduling fell a little out of sync but I’m hoping to return to normality soon. Better late than never! Anyways, this post has definitely been a bit of a struggle for me, not finding any characters suitable during this month’s reads. However, I finally came to this decision while surveying my bookshelves; this character is one I don’t think is talked about enough.

Regardless of what people say, everyone judges a book by its cover. Whether I’m scrolling through Amazon or Goodreads, or wandering around my favourite bookstore, there’s a high chance I will fall in love with a book with a pretty cover – regardless of what it’s about.

In all honesty, this week hasn’t been the nicest. Things seemed to have gone progressively south from beginning to end, so I thought I’d wallow in my sadness a little more before starting afresh by making a top five most heartbreaking deaths in young adult fiction!

Telling Tales | Independent Study Reading List

As a third year university student, I have the misfortune to partake in my degree dissertation, or what my course refers to as an ‘Independent Study’. However, as I’m studying Creative Writing, I get to write a somewhat long creative piece of my own, on a topic of my choice. Basically, I’m using this as an excuse to explore a few of my favourite genres and make my to-be-read pile a little larger. This list mostly consists on retelling of classic literature and YA Fantasy, as my project is somewhat those spliced together. I’ve found a few I’m really excited to read, yet I’ll still include those I’ve already read as I’m planning on studying them a little more. Anyways, onto the list!
